EMILY'S GOING TO BOSTON!!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share the good news!

Emily got accepted into the Boston Ballet Summer Program! She is so excited. She just got the email last night informing her that she got priority acceptance into the program. (This was just 4 days after she auditioned.) She has until Feb. 12th to get her paperwork in, or she will revert to regular decision status. Sounds a lot like college, doesn't it.

This is a top-notch program where over 2,000 girls audition world-wide for 250 spots. It's a 5-week program for ages 15-19 and is located in downtown Boston. Last year, they had students from 42 different states and 15 different countries in the program.

Emily's mom says she is so excited that she can't stand it!
WAY TO GO EMILY!!!!!!

OFF TO THE BEACH!!

Hey everyone,
We're heading to the beach next week. We're traveling to our favorite beach town, Cape May, NJ. As you can see from the map above, Cape May is at the very southern tip of New Jersey. It's a very quiet town full of victorian homes (see picture below) that are mostly bed and breakfasts. We are staying at a small condo in town. You can check it out at this link or the picture below.

Make sure to check the blog. We'll be sending pictures during the week. We'll see you all at the Lowe birthday party next Sunday!

Love ya,
Uncle Shawn & Uncle Ted

HEADING TO ITALY!

Hey everyone,
Uncle Shawn here. Just wanted to let you know that I am heading to Italy next week. I'm taking 6 students from school to go for a 10 day trip to see the cities of Venice, Florence and Rome, Italy. Check back to this site because there is a chance I'll be able to post some pictures or info while I am over there. I can't wait to see everyone at Easter. We leave April 2 and come back April 10. SEE YOU SOON and arrivederci (goodbye in Italian.)
This is one of the canals in Venice. Hope we can take a gondola ride!
This is the famous Plaza San Marcos that the Epcot Italy pavilion is based on.

This is the city of Florence with its famous Duomo (dome.) Hope to see lots of museums here.

You should recognize the colleseum in Rome. We'll be touring there.

And one of our last stops will be Vatican City. Home of the Pope!!

See you soon!!

Love,

Uncle Shawn

BIGGEST CRUISE SHIP IN THE WORLD!!

Hey everyone,

CHECK THIS OUT!!! It is the biggest cruise ship in the world and it is being built as we speak. Royal Caribbean is building the Oasis of the Seas to set sail fall of 2009. They did not intend to build the biggest ship in the world, but that is what they are doing. It was originally called Project Genesis before they named it Oasis of the Seas. Here is a video overview of the ship. You have to see it to believe it!!

The back of the ship is open to the sea and sky so interior staterooms are now exterior.

Outdoor ampitheater at the back of the boat.

Many trees will be in the Central Park area open to the Royal Promenade below.

This is the back of the boat called the Boardwalk. It even has a carousel to ride!!

This video show more of the features of this megaship as well as its construction!!

Maybe we'll see you on this ship sometime in the future!!

AU REVOIR & ADIOS!!

Hey everyone,

Uncle Shawn here and I am wishing you farewell as I head off for my trip to France and Spain. I am chaperoning 30 students with 3 other teachers on a 10-day trip to Paris, France and Madrid, Spain.

We will be traveling on the FASTEST TRAIN IN THE WORLD to go from Paris to Biarritz, France along the ocean. It just set a new world record of going 574 km/hr. For all you math fans, that is 356 mi/hr. Don't think we'll be going that fast, but should be fun!!

The music playing is from a famous French singer Edith Pilaf. They just made a movie about her called La Vie en Rose. The actress which played her won the Oscar for best actress. A GREAT film about her unfortunately tragic life.

Listen here to LIVE French radio.

Listen here to LIVE Spanish radio.

I will be flying out Wednesday evening. I will be flying out of New York City for a 7 hour and 45 minute flight to Paris. You can see where my airplane is in the sky by looking up flight 118 in the lower left hand corner (FLIGHT STATUS) of this page. REALLY COOL!!

Next time I see all of you will be on Easter Sunday. I will be getting back Friday night and can't wait to see you all at Grandmom's and Pop Pop's for Easter.

Love you!!
Uncle Shawn
