Hi everyone,
Just wanted to drop you all a quick note to say hello. We have been very busy recently and we were away the past 2 weekends visiting Mr. Ted's mom and dad.
Two weekends ago, we went to the 1000 Islands region in New York state. It is a group of over 1700 islands along the St. Lawrence river.
We took a boat trip up and down the river to visit two islands that have castles on them!!
Bolt castle was built around 1904 by a wealty hotel owner in New York City for his bride to be. But during construction, his fiancee died suddenly. He halted all work, told the workers to leave the island and the castle was never finished. You can see in some of the pictures that the outside was done but not the inside.
Another castle was Singer castle which was built by an executive for the Singer Sewing machine company around the same time as the other castle. But this castle was lived in for many years and was recently opened to the public. There are hidden passageways and even a dungeon.
We had a great time and would recommend the trip to anyone!!
Love,
Uncle Shawn & Mr. Ted
